Lori Hanson battled with bulimia and her self-image for 34 years. She has expertise on the subject that can only be gained by experience. After watching many victims go in and out of treatment repeatedly, Lori decided there had to be an alternative to traditional treatment. She followed a holistic approach (employing mind, body and spirit) and by learning that we are designed to self-heal, she found the connection to her personal power which led to her healing. She shares her story and approach to recovery in her award-winning book It Started With Pop-Tarts®...An Alternative Approach to Winning the Battle of Bulimia.

Hanson recognized that her experience and approach to recovery was a gift she had to share with others.

Hanson graduated with a B.S. in Business Management and Organization.

She built her career as a software consultant and selling information technology solutions, but left to pursue her passion of self-improvement and helping others create balance in their lives. She is the founder and President of Learn2Balance, a company focused on improving the lives of others, and Shewolf Press.

A media favorite, Lori has appeared on many radio and TV shows to bring awareness to the epidemic of eating disorders. Her goal is to help young people find help and healing much younger in life than she did.

"An inspiring story of using intention, the law of attraction, energy work and body work to overcome a severe eating disorder. It is a wonderful example of the new paradigm that is emerging in the arena of health."

-Jack Canfield
Co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Body and Soul® and
The Success Principles; featured teacher in The Secret

An entertaining and humorous speaker, she shares her personal story and insights for holistic healing and a healthy lifestyle with high school and college students, parents and community groups. She challenges and inspires audiences to improve their quality of life and embrace their personal power.

Lori offers a wide variety of workshops and talks on eating disorder awareness, self-esteem, body image, reducing stress, improving diet, nutrition and quality of life to help students and parents develop "coping skills" that position them for success in life. She consults with individuals on eating disorders, weight and stress issues. Clients learn the five strategies for self-healing through a series of structured sessions, support and referrals to holistic practitioners.

A talented lyricist and singer, Lori re-engaged with her creative side and began writing lyrics as part of her recovery process. She sings and shares her music to conclude many of her speeches. She is finishing production on her first CD. Listen to music.

Growing up in the Midwest, Lori lived in Saginaw, Detroit, and Cedar Lake Michigan; Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. She spent 16 years in Denver, Colorado to indulge her passion for skiing.
